Cabinet Approves Additional RM6 Billion For PTPTN In 2012-2013

KUALA LUMPUR, March 31 (Bernama) -- The government has approved an
additional amount of RM6 billion for the National Higher Education Fund
Corporation (PTPTN) for 2012 and 2013, said the Minister of Higher Education,
Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin.
He said the Cabinet at its weekly meeting yesterday approved the
application by his ministry considering the importance and relevance of PTPTN
in financing the education of students in tertiary institutions (IPT).
"As at Feb 29, a total of 1.9 million borrowers had received funding from
PTPTN to a tune of RM43.6 billion," he said when speaking at the closing
of the National Higher Education Carnival at the Putra World Trade Centre, here
Saturday.
