Scholarship

Objective
  • Providing scholarships to outstanding students who are studying at Public Higher Education Institutions (IPTA) or Local Private Higher Education Institutions (IPTS) in STEM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics).
  • Priority is given to IPTS owned by the Sarawak Government.
Requirement
  • Sarawakian (at least one of the parents is a Sarawakian).
  • Malaysian citizen.
  • Obtain honors / credits in Bahasa Melayu subject at SPM level / equivalent examination.
  • First degree students currently studying at IPTA or Local IPTS in the country, with CGPA / PNGK 3.00 and above.
  • Obtain CGPA / PNGK 3.00 and above for graduates of Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM) or its equivalent / Diploma / Matriculation / Asasi and its equivalent.
  • Advanced degree students (Bachelor, PhD & Specialists) who are studying at IPT in the country and abroad.
  • Achieve excellent academic achievement (CGPA / PNGK 3.00 and above) during the First or Master’s degree.
  • Full Time Study Mode.
  • Pass the shortlist screening and interview session.
Application
  • Coursework & Research:
    • Yayasan Sarawak online application.
    • Applications are opened once a year through advertisements and will be published on the Sarawak Foundation Website, Sarawak Foundation Official Social Media and Local Newspapers.
    • First degree studies: Domestic only.
    • Masters and Ph.D Studies: Domestic and Abroad.
Elements of Scholarship Payment
  • Tuition Fees, Living Allowance, Book Allowance, Equipment Allowance, Internship Allowance & Thesis Allowance.
  • Return flight ticket (once a year for studies in the country / once during studies abroad).

  • Obtain CGPN / PNGK 3.00 and above for graduates of Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM) or its equivalent / Diploma / Matriculation / Foundation and its equivalent.
  • Advanced degree students (Bachelor, Ph.D & Expertise) who are studying at IPT locally and abroad.
  • Achieve excellent academic achievement (CGPA / PNGK 3.00 and above) during the First or Master’s degree.
  • Full Time Study Mode.

    • First degree studies: In the country only.
    • Masters and Ph.D Studies: Locally and Abroad.

Objective
  • Specifically for students pursuing a Bachelor of Medicine Program at Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS).
  • Every year 40 students will be selected as an effort to increase the number of doctors in Sarawak.
Requirement
  • Sarawakian (at least one of the parents is a Sarawakian).
  • Malaysian.
  • First degree students currently studying at UNIMAS with a GPA / CGPA of 3.00 and above.
  • Obtained an offer and confirmation of studying Medicine Program at Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS).
Application
  • Yayasan Sarawak will receive a list of eligible students from Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS).
  • Pass the shortlist screening and interview session.
Elements of Scholarship Payment
  • Tuition Fee & Accommodation Fee.
  • Subsistence Allowance, Book Allowance, Tool Allowance, Practical Training Allowance & Thesis Allowance.
  • Round trip flight tickets (once a year for studies in the country / Once during studies abroad).
Objective
  • Providing financial assistance to underprivileged students at the National Secondary School level in Sarawak.
  • Funding the students to continue schooling as well as encouraging the improvement of students’ academic performance.
Requirement
  • Sarawakian (at least one of the parents is a Sarawakian).
  • Malaysian citizen.
  • Open to National Secondary School students in Sarawak, and priority is given to Form 2 students.
  • The screening of student selection is based on family income, academic achievement and co-curricular involvement that has been confirmed by the school.
  • Students are NOT recipients of scholarships or financial aid from the government or external parties.
  • Students do not have discipline problems at school.
Assistance
  • The fixed rate for Form 2 to Form 5 is RM400.00 per year for each student.
Application
  • Application form is distributed to the schools through the the Sarawak State Education Department (JPNS).
Objective
  • Helping to finance the initial cost of students starting their studies at Public Higher Education Institutions and IPTS owned by the Sarawak State Government.
Requirement
  • Sarawakian (at least one of the parents is a Sarawakian).
  • Malaysian citizen.
  • Obtain honors / credits in Bahasa Melayu subject at SPM level / equivalent examination.
  • Open to students for semester one (1) only.
  • Pursuing Full Time study mode.
  • Following studies at the government sponsored Skill / Technical Training Institution, Public Higher Education Institution, Swinburne University of Technology, Kuching; Sarawak University of Technology, Sibu; Curtin University Malaysia, Miri; Laila Taib Sibu College and i-CATS University College, Kuching.
  • The parents or guardians of students have a per capita income of RM1,500.00 and below.
  • Only covers entry level Certificate / Matriculation / Foundation / Pre Diploma / Diploma / Bachelor’s degree.
Assistance
  • These non-repayable grants are as follows:
    • In Sarawak : RM1,000.00
    • Outside Sarawak : RM1,500.00

Objective
  • Bursary BP40 Yaysan Sarawak provides opportunities and helps students from low or medium income families (B40 / M40) to continue their studies at Foundation Level, Diploma and First Degree with Subsidized Tuition Fees Covering 80% of the total tuition fees.
Requirement
  • Open to students from B40 and M40 families.
    Malaysian.
  • Obtain honors / credits in Bahasa Melayu subject at SPM level / equivalent examination.
  • Sarawakian (where one of the parents is Sarawakian Bumpitera). At Swinburne, Curtin, UTS, KLT and i-CATS is limited to 100 Bumiputera students for each university each year.
  • For Non-Bumiputera Sarawakian: Only at UTS, and limited to 100 non-Bumiputera students each year.
  • Applications are made through institutions – Swinburne, Curtin, UTS, KLT and i CATS.
  • Applicants are also (i) Eligible to apply for Yayasan Sarawak Local Scholarship Loans to cover the remaining fees that still need to be paid and (ii) eligible to apply for Admission Assistance to Tertiary / Technical Education.
  • Open throughout the year.
Required documents
  • Letter of offer to study at the relevant institution.
  • MyKad – Students, parents and guardians and siblings who are still dependent on their parents.
  • Student’s birth certificate.
  • SPM results (Must have credits in Bahasa Melayu).
  • Latest salary statement of parent / guardian OR pension statement if retired) OR confirmation letter that parents are not employed.
  • Bank Statement (make sure the bank account is still Active).
Objective
  • The purpose of subsidizing flights from Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah or Labuan back to Sarawak.
  • A maximum of two (2) applications are approved in one year.
  • Maximum claim of RM300 for each application / trip.
Requirement
  • Sarawakian (at least one of the parents is a Sarawakian).
  • Malaysian citizen.
  • Aged 18 years and above; still active in full-time studies at any Higher Institution in Malaysia (outside Sarawak) when submitting the application / flight.
  • Flights are not limited to certain dates in a year.
  • Applications are open throughout the year.
  • Please submit a complete application within 60 days after the date of flight.
  • Online application on the Sarawak Foundation official website.
  • All supporting documents MUST be uploaded into the application system.
